In-House Approach

Demand Response Program

Since early 2009, Premier has proudly participated in a “Demand Response Program.” Companies that participate in this program monitor energy usage and when necessary, temporarily shut down their facilities during peak energy usage periods throughout the year.  Benefits of this program are:

· Added stability to power grids by lowering demand for energy
· Less need for additional energy producing facilities
· Increased energy awareness to companies and individuals alike
· A reduced carbon footprint

Lighting

In 2012 Premier upgraded all lighting to high output florescent fixtures throughout our entire facility.  The benefits of using this lighting are:

· Energy efficiency: Premier’s overall energy consumption instantly dropped 40 kilowatts!
· A brighter, more naturally lit work environment
· Increased color accuracy in finishing processes and color matching
· Less heat output

Premier is adverse to waste and uses material that other facilities would simply discard. We are able to do this because we have invested in special equipment, storage areas and best practices to ensure materials are used to their fullest potential. Some of these waste saving measures include:

· Each project is carefully calculated and cut to maximize material yield
· Thick boards can be resawn to double the usage potential
· Off-fall from solid wood and veneers is saved and stored for future use

Shipping Practices

· Almost all product is wrapped and shipped in extra thick, reusable blankets rather than foam, cardboard, or tape
· Product that is not blanket-wrapped uses recyclable materials
