In 2010, Jim Howard of the Glen Alspaugh Company in St. Louis, Missouri won the pinnacle award in the prestigious NKBA kitchen design competition for the Best Kitchen of the Year. In 2011, Jim impressed the judges with what might be our favorite blue kitchen ever and won another award for the second straight year! Jim used our Westminster door in a lightly distressed paint and glaze finish system to create an elegant French room that even the dog can’t stop admiring.
In the butler’s pantry, a lighter color paint and glaze finish was specified. However, with matching Westminster styling, hardware, and similar design the room beautifully identifies with the kitchen. In the basement, Jim specified rift-cut white oak for the bar setting. The bar was finished with a rich stain and glaze.
As with all of Jim’s projects, the final room environment is beautifully designed, creating a very welcoming space.
