Whether it’s the materials, color, or design, this project from John Starck at Showcase Kitchens in Manhasset, New York uses Old World styling in its purest form. John chose flat-cut cherry, with a stain/glaze for the cabinetry, to create a sense of warmth in the kitchen. Premier’s Oxford door style with “M-Bead” raised panel complements the French styling of the hood and carved posts attached to the ends of the island. The varied textures such as the reclaimed tile floors, limestone finished hood, and brick cooking hearth all pay tribute to Old World European styling.
John addressed the task of dovetailing his work with the traditional design of the rest of the home creating a truly functional kitchen. The clients are avid cooks who enjoy entertaining, so he incorporated an abundance of storage cabinets, numerous areas to prep food, and space for all the desired appliances. Keeping true to form and function, the double Sub-Zero unit stands alone, as it’s own beautiful furniture piece.
