She wanted European, contemporary style, He wanted clean line, traditional; what’s a designer to do? In the words of Bobby Herr, from Barbara Herr Kitchens, “find the common ground and go from there”.
“Common ground” for this couple was creating an open and airy kitchen which could accommodate friends and family for their annual derby party. Incorporating a large TV for Derby Day was also a must.
Conscience of the conflicting style desires of her clients, Bobby designed a soft-contemporary kitchen. Zebrawood, in a matte finish, was used on the cabinets to create a warm, inviting space. Glass inserts, a quartz countertop and a glass backsplash were selected to add a little shine to the area.
Holding the glass-door wall cabinets down from the ceiling in the sink area, was a nod to European design. On the opposite wall a more traditional application was applied, with cabinets designed to be full height, creating a perfect blend of European style with a traditional twist.
The clear winner on every day of the week – the homeowners!
