Debbie Larson of Past Basket in Geneva, Illinois designed this transitional kitchen.
Inspired by the homeowners’ Swedish antiques, this transitional kitchen captures some of the Scandinavian flair for design that is both artistic and functional. The European style hood with the iron corbels, silver backsplash, and cooking center lend an alluring focal point. Debbie’s choice of color in the milk paint creates a sophisticated, inviting appeal.
The old kitchen was tucked back into the corner and didn’t feel like part of the adjoining room. Debbie reconfigured the space to open up the kitchen to the rest of the house. In addition, she took into account the needs of the clients’ children by staying away from wall cabinets and keeping the storage areas accessible in the base cabinets and island. The open shelving with integrated LED lighting allows for visible and easy access to dishes.
