Design Drafter

Premier Custom Built, a high-end residential cabinet making company is seeking a Design Drafter. This individual will provide support to drafting for design/build projects, coordination drawings, conceptual plans, as-built drawings, and project sketches involving metal.This is a highly collaborative position spending time working as part of a team alongside our Engineers in our growing TruMetal division. You will have the opportunity to use a custom 3D modeling program to complete shop drawings for in-house use as well as for local vendors. Close collaboration with engineers and project managers provides a good path for personal progression and career advancement. Main Functions
  • Support Project Managers with CAD (3D Modeling), Product Research & Development
  • Contribute innovative design thinking and implement existing design documentation into 3D environments.
  • Accurately reconstruct 3D objects from technical drawings
  • Supports Design Team and executes production on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Collaborates in Team environment to develop process and design improvement initiatives
Job Requirements
  • Proficiency with OnShape or related 3D design software platform such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD
  • Two-year technical degree in Design or Drafting or equivalent experience and knowledge
  • Knowledge of metal working and fabrication a plus. (Machining, welding, sheet metal)

Machinist

Tru Metal, a division of Premier Custom Built, provides machining, fabricating, and assembly of custom metal products to our core cabinet business. We pride ourselves on delivering top-notch craftsmanship and innovative solutions. We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Manual Machinist to join our team and contribute to our continued success. As a Manual Machinist, you will be responsible for setting up and operating manual equipment to create custom parts based on blueprints, sketches, and specifications. Your work will be crucial in ensuring that each component meets the highest standards of accuracy and quality.

Main Functions
  • Set up and operate manual mills, lathes, and other machining equipment to produce custom metal parts
  • Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to determine matching processes and specifications
  • Select and install appropriate tooling and fixtures to achieve desired results
  • Monitor machine operations and adjust settings to optimize performance, accuracy, and quality
  • Perform quality control checks on finished parts using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to machines, tooling, and processes
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment and follow safety protocols
  • Collaborate with engineers and other team members to meet project deadlines and client requirements
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on machines as needed
Job Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in machining is a plus
  • Proven experience and proficiency in setup and operation of manual machines
  • Strong knowledge of machining principles, metalworking techniques, and tooling
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and job orders
  • Experience with precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, etc.)
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM software for CNC programming is a plus
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

Metal Engineer

Tru Metal, a division of Premier Custom Built, provides machining, fabricating, and assembly of custom metal products to our core cabinet business. We pride ourselves on delivering top-notch craftsmanship and innovative solutions. We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Engineer to join our metal team and contribute to our continued success. The Metal Team Engineer will work as part of a dynamic team focused on designing metal components from concept through to final production. This role will involve close collaboration with other engineers, designers, and production teams to ensure that parts meet technical specifications, production requirements, and extremely high aesthetic requirements.

Main Functions
  • Design metal parts, components, and assemblies for various manufacturing processes (welding, machining, casting, etc.)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability
  • Create detailed part designs and technical drawings using OnShape
  • Coordinate with and support outside vendors
  • Conduct engineering analysis to evaluate design options, ensuring parts meet strength, durability, and performance requirements
  • Select appropriate materials and finishes for different part design based on application and production methods
  • Support prototype development, testing, and validation of parts
  • Participate in troubleshooting design issues during production and suggest improvements
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and company specifications
  • Continuously research new design techniques and materials to improve part quality and reduce production costs
Job Requirements
  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. (5-7 Years experience)
  • Proven experience in designing metal parts, with a strong understanding of manufacturing processes
  •  Proficiency in CAD software (OnShape, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of materials science and metalworking techniques
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality and safety standards
